How to connect camera with mobile phone

Hi everyone, welcome to AndasonMajid Tech! Today I’m going to show you step-by-step how to:

Install HIKVISION IP cameras, Connect them to a Network Video Recorder (NVR), link them to your mobile phone so you can watch your cameras from anywhere in the world Whether you’re installing cameras for your home, office, or business, this guide will cover everything you need to know, from hardware setup to mobile access.

1. What You Need Before Starting

To complete this setup, make sure you have the following:

HIKVISION IP Cameras:  Choose the model that fits your needs (indoor, outdoor, night vision, etc.).

HIKVISION NVR: This is the device that stores and manages your video feeds.

NVRs come in different capacities:

4-channel (supports up to 4 cameras) 8-channel, 16-channel and Up to 128-channel for large installations. Choose according to the number of cameras you plan to use.

UTP (Ethernet) cables – For network connection between cameras, NVR, and switch/router.

PoE Network Switch (optional) – Needed if you have many cameras or if your NVR does not have enough PoE ports.

Router with Internet access – Required if you want to view cameras remotely.

Computer or Laptop – For configuring camera and NVR settings.

Hik-Connect mobile app – For mobile viewing.

2. Connecting IP Cameras to the NVR

There are two main connection methods:

Option 1: Direct Connection to NVR

Some NVRs come with built-in PoE (Power over Ethernet) ports. These ports supply both power and data to the cameras through a single UTP cable.

Steps:

Plug one end of the UTP cable into the camera.

Plug the other end into an available PoE port on the NVR.

Repeat for each camera.

Option 2: Using a PoE Network Switch

If your NVR doesn’t have PoE ports or if you need to connect many cameras located far away, use a PoE network switch.

Steps:

Connect all cameras to the PoE switch using UTP cables.

Connect the switch to your NVR’s LAN port.

Connect the NVR to your router (for Internet access).

3. Assigning IP Addresses to Cameras and NVR

For your system to work, all devices must be in the same network range.

For example: NVR IP: 192.168.1.100, Camera 1 IP: 192.168.1.101, Camera 2 IP: 192.168.1.102 ..

If you don’t have a router, you will still need to manually assign IP addresses.

Using SADP Tool (Recommended)

HIKVISION provides a free tool called SADP (Search Active Device Protocol) to detect and configure devices.

Steps:

Go to the official HIKVISION website and search for SADP Tool.

Download and install the tool on your computer.

Make sure your computer is connected to the same network as the NVR and cameras.

Open SADP Tool it will scan and display all connected HIKVISION devices.

Select each camera, and on the right panel, set a unique IP address that matches the NVR’s network range.

Assign an IP address to the NVR if it’s not already set.

Click Save after each configuration.

4. Adding Cameras to the NVR

Once IP addresses are assigned, it’s time to link the cameras to your NVR.

Steps:

Log in to your NVR’s local interface or web browser interface.

Go to Camera Management or Channel Configuration.

Click Add or Manual Add.

Enter the camera’s IP address, username, and password.

Repeat for all cameras.

Save the settings.

At this point, you should see live camera feeds on your NVR screen.

5. Connecting Your NVR to the Internet

For remote viewing on your mobile phone:

Connect the NVR’s LAN port to your router using an Ethernet cable.

Make sure the router has stable Internet access.

Test by going to the NVR’s Network Settings → Basic Settings → Network Status and ensure it shows “Connected”.

6. Linking the NVR to Your Mobile Phone (Remote Viewing)

We will use the Hik-Connect app for this.

Steps:

On your mobile phone, go to Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Search for and install Hik-Connect.

Open the app, create a free account, and log in.

Tap Add Device (usually a “+” icon).

Select Scan QR Code.

On your NVR, go to Configuration → Network → Platform Access, and find the QR code.

Scan the QR code using your phone.

The NVR will now appear in your Hik-Connect app.

Tap on the NVR to view your live camera feeds from anywhere in the world.

7. Final Tips

Strong Internet connection is essential for smooth remote viewing.

Always set strong passwords for your cameras and NVR to prevent unauthorized access.

Keep your firmware updated for better security and performance.

If remote viewing doesn’t work, check if your ISP allows outbound ports used by Hik-Connect.

Conclusion

You have now installed and connected your HIKVISION IP Cameras linked them to an NVR, Set up remote viewing on your phone using Hik-Connect and now you can monitor your property 24/7, no matter where you are in the world.
